Information about recreation Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre
There are 540 seats in this theatre auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance or directly before a beginning of the play. Performances staged in this theatre are in Uzbek. Those spectators who do not speak Uzbek will be interested in a musical-plastic performance “Oh, woman”, staged on the basis of legends and songs of Uzbek folklore. Plays of different genres are staged in Uzbek national academic drama theatre – comedies, dramas, tragedies, classical plays and those of modern authors.
Comedy staging plays up various every-day situations, use people’s humor, techniques of a traditional street theatre, and modern interpretation of ancient customs. Examples to that are “Ancient times fairy tales” – a play based on short novels of the classic of Uzbek literature G.Gulyam, or an amusing comedy “Parable on red apple”. E. Lessing’s play “Nathan the Wise” is devoted to philosophical issues of learning the truth on the background of fight for power and religious oppositions in Central Asia and Middle East. World classics are represented by plays of Shakespeare - “Hamlet” and “Midsummer night’s dream ”.
The theatre started its history in 1914, when Abdullah Avloniy created an amateur troupe “Turon”. Later this amateur troupe became a professional drama theatre, which received a status of Academic Theatre in 1937 following the decision of the government.
